Losing Your Virginity 101 - A teacher in Lexington, Kentucky apparently showed his Spanish class the movie The 40-Year-Old Virgin instead of, say, teaching Spanish. You all might be asking "what does a movie like that have to do with Spanish?" Well, I remember in my high school government class when our teacher had us watch Marked for Death, and I can not express in words what kind of impact that had on me. To this very day, the terms "bi-cameral legislation" and "Constitutional amendments" are quite literally synonymous with "Steven Seagal". When I see that fat man with a pony tail breaking someone's arm, it helps me remember what a great country we live in.
So next time you're so quick to judge Hollywood's relevance, maybe you should just think again. And then you should go rent some action movies with over-weight, egotistical, wanna-be bad asses. 'Cause that's what learning is all about.
Did you know that being married is like being nibbled to death by a duck?

I'll never forget my high school history teaching showing us "Platoon"... first time my virgin ears had heard the "F" word used so many times in 2 hours. My parents wanted me to boycott the school when they found out about it. *silly*
But really, "what does a movie like that have to do with Spanish?"
Holy crap. I would go ballistic if a teacher showed that movie to any of my children. What was he thinking????
What does it have to do with Spanish? Umm, hello? It's FUNNY. Sheesh, do I have to spell it out for you? Ha. Seriously though, who knows. Like I said, my gov. teacher in high school did something very similar and, needless to say, the parents weren't too happy with him when they found out. Why he thought it was ok to do that is still a mystery to me. Probably wanted to be "cool".
I remember watching Red Dawn in junior high. I think that taught me a lot.
Never, ever underestimate the power of Patrick Swazye *and* Powers Boothe in the same movie. Epic, I tells ya.
I think Chech and Chong's "Up in Smoke" would have been a little more appropriate for that class.
