You Can Do That?

Man Offers Free Breast Exams, Finds Some Takers: Doctor Impersonator Charged With Sexual Assault - Uh oh. I had no idea that was against the law...

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. -- Broward sheriff's deputies have arrested a 76-year-old
man they say was going door to door offering women free breast exams.

I like where this is going.

One 36-year-old woman said she let Winikoff into her apartment.
She [said] after he touched her breasts, he moved his hand to her
genitals. She said one she realized that Winikoff was not a real doctor and she
called the Broward Sheriff's Office.

What on earth tipped her off, I wonder? Was it when he touched her special area? Or was it the fact that he's a DOOR TO DOOR SALESMAN GROPING YOUR BREASTS?!?!?

Investigators said by that time, Winikoff had already found another victim; a
33-year-old woman who lives in the same complex. That woman told deputies that
Winikoff also sexually assaulted her.

I would just like to point out the use of the word "victim" here. Let's see, you let a strange man into your house and play with your melons because he says he is a doctor, and you are a "victim." Okey dokey.

Thanks to My Pet Jawa for the story.

There are lots of guys reading that thinking 'Darn, why didn't I think of that?!!'

Alessandra said...

Obviously, that's not how he goes about it. It's not too hard to imagine how an old guy could come up with a whole act that he is part of the Department of Community Health, they are doing a cancer education program, says he is a doctor, and that he wants to talk to her about prevention, he blabbers, later, he offers to do a cancer screening exam, etc etc. I could see some women getting tricked by it.

Kell said...

Tricked? Nope. This falls clearly in the category of "stupid." Anyone dumb enough to fall for this, deserves to get felt up by a man who looks like he is wearing x-ray glasses from a box of Honeycomb.

I didn't want to turn a friend's blog into a pissing match, but have you ever heard of personal responsibility? Any twit with a half of brain would know that a physician will never do door-to-door breast exams. You aren't talking naivete here, these are women who are just plain stupid and they are so stupid it is insulting to the rest of us. They aren’t too young, they aren't feeble minded with age, and they should be more worldly at those ages; they have been to a physician before, I would think, and should understand the ropes. You can’t excuse their stupidity without recognizing that this is exactly what it is... stupidity.

They don’t “deserve to get molested,” I was kidding about that. It was a joke, ever heard of those? But they can’t cry that they are completely innocence either. They let a strange man into their home without question and allowed themselves to be felt up. And no one is making the assumption that they wanted this either. I am merely commenting on the fact that they are flipping DUMB.

This is completely different that other types of molestation and abuse. Blaming the victim in those cases is at the expense of the victim is wrong- they did nothing to make it happen. When people do that it makes me sick... But in those cases, there was no... Ding-dong... "Hi I am a very friendly Doctor that happened to be driving by and I need to do a breast exam on you." "Oh, really? Come on in. Want to start on the left side or the right?" COME ON!! The fact that he knocked on probably several doors and only had two takers actually made me feel better about the mentality of women in that complex.

“People lie all the time about very serious issues” ... No kidding... I have read your blog.

=============================
The fact that they were naive does not take away their personal responsibility.

What is "stupid?" Are you suggesting they had mental retardation? Have you not heard of the tens of thousands different scams that humans have successfully invented as they pass off as someone or other ? Many work based on psychological manipulation.People's minds go far beyond their intellectual abilities and this is where psychology comes in, and quite often completely overrides rationality.

People aren't born with knowledge or the capacity to know everything and to suspect correctly everything, you must be completely snotty to think if someone somewhere hasn't acquired the same knowledge you have, it is because of a low IQ.

"They don’t “deserve to get molested,” I was kidding about that. It was a joke, ever heard of those?"

Have you ever heard of a stinking sense of humor?

I think your tone shows just how miniscule is your understanding of people's difficulties to perceive reality correctly.

Waiting patiently for Mr. T. to come rescue this blog...

Congratulations, Alessandra! You win! With your posts: displaying such stability, complete mental balance, common sense and rationalization, you have won! By taking a light hearted piece, adding in personal demons and a few delusions, and then mixing in a shot of wacko... you ARE clearly the grand prize winner. Woo Hoo!!

Your next four sessions of ECT are free. I suggest you call and schedule your appointment ASAP.

Holy crapoly, I get back from my rounds, er, school, and find all of this. What fun!

Alessandra - "The fact that they were naive does not take away their personal responsibility."

Uhh, I think you just backed up Kell's point with that statement.

"Have you not heard of the tens of thousands different scams that humans have successfully invented as they pass off as someone or other?"

Uhh, yeah. I live in Las Vegas, so I see it every day. Casinos make billions of dollars on this very principle, subsequently making it possible for me to take advantage of a cheap college education. Woo Hoo!

"People aren't born with knowledge or the capacity to know everything and to suspect correctly everything,"

Indeed. This is why we, as a society, have this crazy notion that you should be 18 years old before being considered an "adult," and being set free to roam as they please with the rest of the herd.

"you must be completely snotty to think if someone somewhere hasn't acquired the same knowledge you have, it is because of a low IQ."

That's so true. People who think human beings should have to do things like feed themselves or remember to breathe all on their own without some sort of formal educating proces are so snotty. And rude. Meanies.

Muse, you have now graduated from "psycho female" to "level headed cool chick with sense of humor". Alessandra, you have now assumed the roll of "psycho chick". Just so you know, that's not a bad thing. Every female that begins contributing to "Twisted Sense of Funny" usually carry's the title until a new girl comes along with a psycho rant that makes the first one think, "Dang, that chick is psycho. I think I would like to be cool and level headed." Even Kell, dare I say it, has tipped her hand to show mild degrees of psychoness, once in a while.

Kell said...

Huh... Interesting…. Huh…. Informative…. Huh... Brave... or really stupid.

I think it would be actually safer calling Jack Bauer out than what you posted, Jonathan. But hey, if you are already the skittish type- the next few years won't change much for you... jumping at shadows, hiding when the mailman comes, ducking when the phone rings, and thinking that you are being followed. Payback is a scary bitch. And yes. You will pay. And it will be painful and come from nowhere. It won't be today, or even tomorrow... so rest easy my friend.... just know that it is coming.................

Oops. I hope that doesn't come across as psycho.... oh dear... it might. Oh well. No big deal, since I had already tipped my hand. I can stop pretending. Kind of a relief actually.

Alessandra - "The fact that they were naive does not take away their personal responsibility."

Uhh, I think you just backed up Kell's point with that statement.
==============================
Only if you mistake what I wrote for implying that no one should ever have any responsibility over anything - which is a big incorrect distortion. Or that naiveness equates to no one having to have personal responsibility. Another incorrect distortion. Or that only people who didn't fall for the scam have personal responsibility. Either you didn't understand what I wrote or you jumped to very mistaken conclusions about it.

Take the typical scams where someone pretends to be an agent that needs to process a certain fee and asks for the target's bank account information. Depending on how the scam person presents themselves, they can succeed in posing as some official agent and getting illegally the information they seek.

This does not mean any person who is contacted by such a scam artist has no responsibility over their financial information. Everyone has personal responsibility always. But if the way you decode the situation is not enough or is not appropriate for you to perceive the situation as a scam, you will be tricked. And factual information is only one component, other psychological dynamics can even completely override data, which is how we respond to people on a psychological level.

This means that you still are responsible for trying to advert any scam, but your ability to do so can be impaired based on lack of factual data and psychological dynamics. So, if a person didn't choose to be tricked, and was tricked, even though they still have personal responsibility over their lives, to blame them is to blame the victim.

re this case, I found this: "Authorities believe he targeted women who don't speak English well and women who don't have health insurance."

What does this tell you? He was going exactly for women who would have trouble figuring out it was a scam. Women who don't speak English well might very well not be as aware as Kell about how doctors behave in the US, they could be easily fooled, they might have not that much schooling, and that information that Kell believes every woman is born with, was just not there for them.

Same for women with no health insurance, who could be poor, not that educated, and lack the info necessary to know that a hospital wouldn't send a doctor door-to-door like that - which is what I read his line was.

With people like Kell on here, I am amazed that anyone new ever approaches a subject, since she seems to be the ultimate authority on everything that comes down the pike. This blog is like the old children's game, Tick Tock the Game is Locked...

~Muse said...

Last I checked, this is Twisted's blog, so if there's any 'ultimate authority' on here it's him. Kell only expresses her own views and opinions on various topics on here, if they happen to coincide with Twisted's, so be it.

Some people who comment on here have their own world view and agenda, which is readily apparent when reading their own blogs. Sometimes that agenda collides with a topic on here and the various views of the others who frequent here. Some, like Kell, are quite vocal in expressing their views... others, like myself, choose to observe from the peanut gallery to see how it all shakes out.

~Muse,

Who took her own licks on here not too long ago. =P

Ok, I think I speak for everyone when I say this particular post got a little out of hand, especially considering that it was origianally such a light-hearted post. However, this comment I quote seems a little odd, considering that I can't really see any reason for it. The quote implies that Kell tells everyone how right she is in every comment section, and that she claims to be an expert on everything. I, personally, fail to see any evidence of that, and would be surprised if any other regular readers do, either. Yes, she is a regular reader and commentor. However, as about 95% of the posts here are of a completely jocular nature, it seems a little silly to be accusing someone of being the "ultimate authority on everything that comes down the pike."

It's all good, nothin' but love, here at Twisted Sense of Funny.

Always off center;
